I almost never take life too seriously. It's just too short and I have been around the block enough to know! I like getting to know people one on one and you'll find I'm a pretty friendly guy. I can tell a good joke but I can also listen! I have found that to be an important quality that not many people have, but I have learned that friends who can listen are life long.

I am well educated, very intelligent, and widely read on a multitude of subjects. I can carry on a conversation over a wide range of topics from philosophy of religion to current events to politics to old movies. My political views are generally conservative balanced by some extreme liberal viewpoints. I've served in the military, law enforcement, fire service, and taught school. My sense of humor tends to be a little bizarre and occasionally macabre... invoke at your own risk! I'm looking for someone physically and mentally unafraid with the ability to work hard, play hard, and love hard. I prefer brains and assertiveness to passivity. I like someone with a sense of adventure who prefers to ride her own horse or motorcycle rather than ride behind someone else. If that sense of adventure includes extreme sports, so much the better. I am not easily intimidated. My preference is to be told straight up how things are and would rather have my feelings hurt than be lied to... Expect the unexpected...Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, throughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming...WOW! What a Ride!

My perfect match would be someone who would love to travel and hear about the places that I have been, tell me all about where she has been, and love telling and listening to all the great stories that are experienced when people travel. She should be willing to keep up some of the old traditions. I'm not completely convinced that everything has to deal with a computer. And she would love the outdoors. She should not be afraid to take a chance and love life. Not that everything has to be big, some of the best things are the small and simple things.

She would be comfortable camping out in the rain, playing pool in a pub, walking along a beach, dining in a 4 star restaurant, attending a play, or watching a mushy movie in her pajamas with a good wine. Hopefully she would have an interest in (or at least tolerate) history and related activities. She would be someone who would look forward to telling me about her day and hearing about mine. Someone who would love to receive and return affection, who would appreciate a single rose or a diamond in the spirit given. Someone who will love me like the devil and kiss me like an angel.
